CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
STRETCH PLUS: This challenging 60 minute class improves overall body strength, flexibility and balance, with a special emphasis on core conditioning.
STRETCH LITE: This gently flowing 30 minute class will help you relaease the tightness and tensioni in your body. Great for stretching beginners.
CORE PLUS: A 60 minute class focusing on core strengthening, flexibility awith a little bit of cardiovascular training thrown in.
FLOW YOGA: In this class we practice yoga asanas (poses) in flowing sequences. Emphasis is placed on coordinating breath with movement, and in noticing the effect that the asanas have on both the physical and emotional levels. This style of yoga provides cardio as well as strength and meditation benefits. While recommended for students who have at least some experience with asanas, participants are encouraged to perform as much or as little of each flow sequence as is appropriate for their individual fitness level.
HATHA YOGA WITH AYURVEDIC INFLUENCE: This class practices asanas (poses) individually to help focus on the physical aspects of the pose, as well as to allow time to process the emotional and spiritual aspects of the asanas. The asanas chosen and the length of time they are held will be guided by the ayurvedic principles, taking into account the time of year and weather conditions. This calss is acessible for all levels, with modifications made where needed.
GENTLE "YIN" STYLE YOGA: This class focuses on only a few asanas (poses) per class. The asanas chosen are held for several minutes, with the focus on surrendering into the asana. The gentle and slow pace allows the class to reap the benefits ofdeeper stretching, and to allow for a fuller experience ofbreath and meditation. Most poses are performed seated or lying on the mat, making this class accessible for all fitness levels.
TAI CHI BEGINNER: An integrative class focusing on spirituality, health and the core principles if Tai Chi. This practice has many benefits including stress relief by oxygenating the cells through deep breathing, present movement awareness and moving energy to rejuvenate and detoxify the whole body.
TAI CHI ADVANCED: Building on the foundation of Tai Chi Beginner, this class infuses an authentic Tai Chi Form from Wu Dang Mountain and advanced breathing techniques with fast and slow movements. In addition, it also blends the healing power of Qi Gong, spiraling energy of Ba Gua and relaxing seated meditation. A prerequiste for this class is a minimum of 12 Tai Chi Beginner classes along with instructor's permission.
BODY WISDOM: A social and upbeat group exercise class that is for the very active older adult. Total body strengthening exercises alternate with various agility cardio exercises that improve quick movement in all directions. Resistence bands, dumbbells, stability balls, agility ladders and cones are all used.
JAZZERCISE: A 60 minute class incorporating cardio, strength and stretch moves for a total body workout.
